Why choose wood flooring?

Certified wood flooring provides peace of mind.

It's no surprise that shipments levels of hardwood flooring are the highest they have been since 1960.

Hardwood flooring has become the flooring of choice for fine homes and businesses because of its beauty, ease of maintenance, and durability. Like fine furniture, wood flooring increases in value over time. In fact, 90% of real estate agents surveyed stated that a home with wood flooring will sell more quickly and for a higher amount of money than a comparable home with any other type of flooring.

Inch to inch, wood is also 16 times more efficient as an insulator than concrete, 415 times as efficient as steel, and 2,000 times as efficient as aluminum. Solid hardwood flooring gives a home or business foot-cushioning comfort, natural insulation, and lasting style for the life of a home.

And more and more, home-owners are installing it themselves. The combination of increased popularity and DIY (Do-it-yourself) projects makes it more important than ever that the products you carry (including flooring) meet customer expectations for quality, consistency, and ease of use.

Better quality can be assured for retailers who are stocking hardwood flooring and homeowners and builders who are buying it. The NOFMA stamp on each board ensures every strip of flooring with that stamp meets higher standards for quality. It provides assurance for a better product and overall increased satisfaction.

NOFMA: The Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association is the only organization to write and enforce grade rules and quality standards for the hardwood flooring industry for both factory finished and unfinished flooring. The goal is to end up with a “serviceable floor”: one that meets your expectations, installs properly and performs correctly. Most manufacturers will claim to abide by similar standards to those of NOFMA, but if they are not a member, it is not a certified floor.

Only by using NOFMA-certified wood flooring can an individual be sure to protect their wood flooring investment. NOFMA's consistent grading standards, quarterly mill inspections, and technical know-how help to save headaches for both the retailer and the consumer for years to come.

Certification provides support. Certification saves time. But only if it is a certification that can be backed up by a guarantee. NOFMA provides you that guarantee.
